Burninating my windows

I bought some window markers yesterday so maybe the birds will stop running into my windows. When faced with what to draw, of course this seemed like the only logical answer:

I don't really understand this, but it makes me giggle.

Delirious

Do you ever have those things you just like for no reason? I do this with music sometimes. For example, I really love the band Augustana. There is no logical reason for this. I mean, they're fine and all. They're fantastic live. It's just that they're not really that great, and I couldn't give you any particular aspect of their music that I like. For some reason I just really love them.

I also feel this way about the Braves shortstop, Alex Gonzalez. No logical reason I should like this player. I could strike him out. I could get Chuck James to strike him out. But for some reason I love this guy.

My other confusing one is my love of brightly colored nail polish and eye makeup. Makes absolutely no sense. I bite my nails, so nail polish doesn't last too long. I don't usually wear any makeup, and if I do it's very minimal. So why the hell am I obsessed with these things?

Just a random observation because I really don't feel like doing any real work.

Eternal sunshine

If I got to erase one thing from my memory, I would definitely choose "Once Upon A Mattress."

Whiny apologetic post

So... I apparently am less concerned with grammar than I am with sugar. True story. I thought there was nothing in the world that could occupy my mind more than horrific, soulless crimes against the English language, but I was wrong.

I'm trying to figure out what food I don't tolerate, and right now that means I'm not eating fructose or sucrose. Not surprisingly, I'm miserable, and I feel like one of those cartoons where everything I look at looks like candy to me. So don't expect too many coherent thoughts until I have my sugar back. Because this sucks.

Cracker Jacks

Atlanta is a pretty kickass place. We got free tickets to a Braves game. Good tickets. Like in one of the sections where you get a waiter. True story: the food is cheaper in those sections. The second game we saw was pretty awesome too--at one point the Braves had two 93s on the field. The scoreboard reported one player's number as -1 and also reported at one point that a player with the last name of 2B was playing the position of 3B. I'm pretty sure they just gave up after the 7th inning or so.

Also kickass: vegan soul food. No kidding. I had vegan macaroni and cheese that was one of the awesomest things I've ever eaten. It really makes me wish Madison had vegans. Or black people.

Graters and stuff

Why is the word "grateful" spelled like that? Shouldn't it be "greatful"? The spelling of "grateful" kind of makes me think of cheese graters. I don't want to be full of that.

Chemistry lesson

Instead of a grammar lesson today, let's have a chemistry lesson! Please enjoy this informative piece about sodium, won't you?

Oh, fact-checking

Here's one from today's editing adventures:

I spent a couple of years at Harper’s Bizarre in New York, so I was in the fashion and beauty industry for a while.

To be fair, the fashion industry is pretty bizarre.

Gorilla warfare

From an exchange on Facebook:

Me: Wisconsin could form its own little cheese-and-beer-loving dictatorship.
Friend I've Never Actually Met: Yeah, but then you could overthrow him and install yourself as Generalissima
Me: I will further consider your proposal once I have assembled my gorilla army and planned my coup.
Person Who Doesn't Know Me: ‎^guerilla (just sayin')
Friend I've Never Actually Met: I think she wants to use actual gorillas.

Axes of Evil

Did you know the plural of "axis" is "axes"? Isn't that funny?

Good information

From the label on the generic brand Benadryl cream:

Diphenhydramine Cream has diphenhydramine in it.

Well, shit. That isn't what I wanted at all when I picked up the tube labeled "diphenhydramine cream."

Brain dump

I'm choreographing a fight using two stuffed cats. That's totally normal, right? Too bad I killed off all my Barbies when I was about 6.

My iPod gets Valentine's Day: "Just the Way You Are" immediately followed by "Fuck You."

Pitchers and catchers report for spring training today!

An actual headline: Flaming Chicken Nuggets to Blame for Apartment Kitchen Fire.

"Will you still like me if I'm not a zombie?"

I'm feeling a little autistic today. Definitely, definitely autistic.

Sometimes I wish I were a high maintenance girl. I'm high maintenance because I'm crazy. But I'm talking about stereotypical girl high maintenance.

Sometimes I wish I were really dumb because then I wouldn't notice when people think I'm really dumb.

Paper is the enemy of nail polish.

Getting all dolled up for Valentine's Day. That means I'm wearing my nice sweats and putting on some mascara.

There's a Grace Potter song that uses the word "beguiled." How awesome is that?

Whoever does Hayley Williams' hair and makeup should be shot.
